Chalk Wovens

Chalk Wovens create bespoke designs of textiles that are hand woven in their Brighton studio in the UK. They offer contemporary, smart and high quality designs made from 100% merino wool. Chalk Wovens was created by Kerry Stokes and Richard Bush, who have been working together since the 1980s.
Chalk Wovens offers gorgeous woven textiles to their customers in the UK and around the world. The company was created by Kerry, the woven textiles designer, and Richard, who studied Ceramics at Farnham, has owned an interiors business and has also represented weave designers in New York and Europe. Kerry has had a long career working for companies from Japan to New York to Europe, designing men’s shirtings, airline fabrics, wall coverings, upholstery fabrics, and towels. She has been a visiting tutor at Central St. Martin’s and Brighton University for many years.

Kerry weaves all of Chalk's designs by hand, allowing her to try out different ideas, constructions and colourways before sending the patterns to the mill in Wales for production. After weaving and finishing, the throws are blanket-stitched at the mill and the remaining fabric is sent to Brighton to be made up into cushions and accessories, so as little material is wasted as possible.
