Description

SPIN-IT with a recycled beer waste base.

Table lamp with an astral aspect, SPIN-IT hypnotizes thanks to its lampshade with aerial curves. Simply balanced on the LED bulb, it twirls to the touch and makes the light dance on the walls.

We collect hops waste from a local beer factory near by. Once dried, the hops is integrated into Jesmonite resin, then poured into a mold. The base contains 45% of recycled material. Once sanded, this organic pattern appears on the cylinder. SPIN-IT's lampshades are heated and formed by hand, carefully balanced on an LED bulb which allows light to dance on the walls. Made of plexiglass, they are detachable, interchangeable and fully recyclable.

SPIN-IT comes with a woven cable in brown or white.

150cm. Bulb: LED.

Handmade in Moodlight's workshop in Besançon. This lamp is made to order in 3 weeks. Please note: Made to order items are non-refundable. Please see our delivery & returns policy for more information.

Sustainability
From his balcony in London, Gobelins graduate Amaury Lonchamp experimented and developed the project Moodlight Studio. Through exploring the possibilities of working with recycled plastic waste, Moodlight creates an atypical eco-aesthetic line. They make all of their products to order or in small batches in their studio space in France.

Moodlight sees the transformation of waste into functional and beautiful design as an exciting challenge. They incorporate plastic or organic waste, such as tea grounds, shredded plastic or charcoal into their products to push them to immortality.

Moodlight mainly supplies their materials from French and Italian vendors who prioritise strong work ethics and connecting people through progression. They also collect extra plastic waste from local factories in the area. Currently they are working with a tea room in Besançon, collecting tea grounds which they incorporated in some of their lights.

Any surplus water produced during the manufacturing process or rainwater collected from the studio’s roof is used to clean hardware and tools. Moodlight’s lamps are also made from up to 50% recycled plastic materials, which reduces the need for raw materials, such as resin. They aim to keep any excess materials to use in other projects, such as small candle holders. The main material used to make their products is UK-sourced Jesmonite, a mineral based and solvent-free acrylic resin. Jesmonite is also non-toxic and very resistant to wear-and-tear.
