The Storr is a rocky hill on the Trotternish Peninsula.
The hill presents a steep rocky eastern face overlooking the Sound of Raasay, contrasting with gentler grassy slopes to the west.
The Storr is prime example of the Trotternish landslip, the longest such feature in Great Britain.
The area in front of the cliffs of the Storr is known as the Sanctuary. This has a number of weirdly shaped rock pinnacles, the remnants of ancient landslips.
Legend has it that Old Man of Storr was a giant who had lived in Trotternish. When he died, he was buried with his finger left sticking out, creating the ridges.
To get up to the Old Man, it is a constant climb. At first, the trail is wide and covered with gravel.
Your reward, if he is not covered in mist, is coming eye to eye with the Old Man of Storr.

The Isle of Skye company was founded and run by Alasdair Campbell and his family, and continues to operate locally in the Isle of Skye. Furthermore, the Paint Company will donate surplus or mistinted paints to their local charities.
In their products, the Isle of Skye Paint Company continues to introduce raw, natural materials where possible. Recently, this included organic seaweed. Seaweed adds a natural thickening and stabilising agent to the paint, as well as boosting its durability. These natural ingredients ensure that the paint emits no harmful gases, and produces low VOCs.
