Tomas & Jani CUBIK. Husk Bedside Table

This rounded edge square bedside table has been consturcted using OSB wrapped in recycled paper, and its feet are made from reclaimed pallet bearers. The door front uses a specialist finish made from coffee bean husks, the shell that sheds off the coffee bean during the roasting process. 

Designed by Jani Lemut and handmade by Jani and his team in Lewes, East Sussex. This table is made to order with a lead time is 2-6 weeks.

Tomas & Jani believe that high quality furniture is even better when it’s good for our planet. That is why they primarily use reclaimed or OSB timber (always FSC-certified) for their products, sourced locally. This ensures that the wood they use is sourced from sustainable, well-managed forests. They also use recycled paper, coffee grounds, coffee chaff, marble dust, metal dust, pallets and bearers, and are always experimenting with new materials such as tetrapaks and mycelium. A lot of the materials that they use are salvaged from their own workshop, neighbouring workshops, and local coffee roasters and cafes. In addition, all of the workers at Tomas & Jani are self-employed, so they set their own living wages.

In an effort to keep up with ever-changing trends in a sustainable manner, Tomas & Jani encourage their customers to return their pieces when they have reached the end of their life cycles, in order to upcycle the piece into something new. This way, they are able to keep up with the current trends in interior design, and avoid constant replacement culture.
