Description

A hexagonal base and top are connected with a splendid array of spindles, which lets light through to create interesting shadows at various times of day. All the legs support the top, and are secured with visible wedge tenons for added strength. The spindles are arranged around one half of the hexagon with some passing through the base as feet, and form the ideal place to keep your favourite magazines and coffee table books. Two larger spindles sit on the other half of the table, leaving an open part of the shelf for larger objects or plants.

The stand is handmade to order from a choice of four British hardwoods as standard: Ash, Oak, Elm and Sycamore. The wood is finished with a warm coat of hardwax oil. Grain pattern and colour may all vary, these are characteristics of working with natural wood.

The side table is made to order in 10 weeks. Please note: Made to order items are non-refundable. Please see our delivery & returns policy for more information.

Sustainability
John Eadon ensures that he sources all materials and components from reputable and trustworthy UK companies that recognisably perform their own ethical and social checks. All of the company’s products are manufactured, assembled, and distributed in the UK.

The studio has a large water butt that collects excess rainwater which is used for all steam bending, and other various jobs such as cleaning and refilling the dog bowl. All of the timber used for John Eadon products is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), or Grown In Britain (GIB). This ensures that the materials are collected from local, well-managed, and sustainable sources.

Each product is designed to utilise as many parts as possible of the supplied wood, so there is minimal wastage in the entire process. Kiln dried offcuts are collected for use in biomass burners as renewable energy resources. Sawdust and wood chippings are composted, and everything else that is used is recycled at the end of its time. All glues and finishes used are biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

If the product should ever reach the end of its life, its raw materials can be recycled into more timber products, or simply composted. However, each product can be repaired and refurbished by John Eadon upon request.
