Key Values
Hemp Oil brings out the colour in painted pieces and revives tired, old, dull wood. Hemp oil cures from the inside out to protect your project and is water resistant once dry. The oil will dry to a very slight satin finish, especially if you do more than one coat.
Food Safe. As well as being natural and non-VOC, Hemp Oil is completely food safe, which means it can be used on kitchen or food display items such as cutting boards, salad bowls and wooden utensils, as well as baby toys, cots and pet furniture. Our hemp oil has very little odour.
Hemp oil is also a great resist between 2 layers of milk paint to expose the 1st layer. Simply paint your 1st colour, apply the oil in random spots and then apply your 2nd coat. The spots that the hemp oil was applied will naturally resist the milk paint and you will get some great chipping. Experiment!
This 16floz bottle will cover approx 60 sq ft – coverage will depend on your application and dryness of wood.

The primary materials used in the milk paint are Casein (milk proteins), lime, and earth pigments. This means that the paint they make is eco friendly, non-toxic, VOC-free, food-safe, and biodegradable, and it contains no chemicals, preservatives, fungicides, hydrocarbons or any other petroleum derivatives. Milk paint is known to be one of the world’s most durable paints, meaning it won’t chip or peel, and its rich colour won’t fade over time. Milk paint is perfect to use for those with chemical sensitivities, or even for your children’s toys.
Milk Paint arrives in a powder form, ready to be mixed with water to be activated. This comes in a resealable bag, which can be recycled when the paint is used up. This ensures minimal wastage when painting projects, and you can be sure the paint isn’t dried up when you come to touch it up!
As a Finish: Apply with a brush or cloth. Let the oil penetrate for five to 30 minutes, then wipe off any excess with a clean, dry cotton cloth. Apply one to three coats, allowing about two hours between coats. Reapply every one or two years or as needed.
To Revive Old Finishes: Apply a small amount of oil with a cloth. Buff any excess with a clean cloth.
